3 Valentine’s Day cocktail recipes that are sure to impress


Roses are red, violets are blue, poems are tough…. COCKTAILS! There’s something sweet about creating a specialty cocktail for those you love back home. Whether it’s with your best friends or loved ones, these cocktails are sure to make a festive treat for Valentine’s Day. That’s why local cocktail enthusiast @JerseyDrinks has three recipes to take your Valentine’s Day weekend to the next level. And hey, who said these recipes couldn’t work for Game Day this Super Bowl Sunday? Whip up a pitcher of the first spritz-style recipe and we’re sure your guests will be so glad they came. Read on to learn how to make these fun cocktails.

Flying Sparks (Serving: 2)


3 oz Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit
1 ½ oz fresh lemon juice
2 oz pink raspberry puree
Q Club Soda


Dried rose petals

Add the first three ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake. Strain into a wine glass filled with ice. Top with club soda and stir gently. Garnish with dried rose petals or lemon wedge.

For the pink raspberry puree: Combine 1 cup fresh raspberries, ¾ cup white sugar and 1 cup pink in a blender and blend until combined. Strain the seeds (optional) and store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for three weeks.

Spicy Valentine’s Day (serving: 2)

4 ounces Tequila Blanco/Silver
2 oz fresh lime juice
1 oz. agave syrup
1 prickly pear, peeled
6-8 jalapenos, sliced/seeded
Tajin salt
Lime, quartered

First, surround the glass with a wedge of lime and dip it in tajin salt to coat, then set aside. Add agave prickly pears (you can buy them at ACME on Clinton, or sub with strawberries) and jalapenos to the bottom of a cocktail shaker and muddler. Add the rest of the ingredients with ice and shake well. Strain into a tagine glass over fresh ice and garnish with a slice of lime.

Strawberry XO Martini (Serving: 2)

4 ounces of vodka
1 oz. chocolate liquor (Godiva)
1 oz. cream liqueur (Amarula Cream)
2 strawberries, sliced
Sheila G’s Brittle Brownie, crushed into fine powder crumbs


Edible heart confetti (optional)


Dip rim of martini glasses in chocolate syrup then coat with finely crushed brittle brownie crumbs, set aside. Add strawberries and chocolate liqueur to the bottom of your shaker and mash. Add the rest of the ingredients with ice and shake well. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with edible heart-shaped confetti.read more button
