1. Elf on the Shelf Ball Pit
Have your elf sit in a ball pool, but the balls are actually M & Ms. Any type of little round candy would work for what is a quick and easy idea to set up.
2. Elf on the Shelf sliding staircase
This idea is sure to make your child think that the elves have a duty to keep an eye on them. Just get an umbrella-shaped candy cane, bend your elf’s legs, and place it to sit on the candy cane. Then position them both to sit on the stairs as if they had slipped down the handrail.
3. Elf on the Tic, Tac, Toe shelf
If you have more than one elf on the shelf this year, why not create a tic-tac-toe game (cross and zero) on your wall?
You can use easily removable tape and Christmas wrapping bows to mark the X every time they play. This is a creative and fun variation of Elf on the Shelf and can even get your little one to join in the game!
4. The elf on the shelf tangled in the silk
Do you have dental floss at home? Try wrapping your elf in this dental floss and sitting him in the bathroom next to the toothbrushes to give the impression that he has been busy snooping and mistakenly got tangled in dental floss!
5. Elf on the Shelf duck pond
If your kids are toddlers and you have rubber ducks in the house, you can use them to create a pond-like scene. Place the elf on the tap and add bread to his hands so that he looks like he’s feeding the ducks below in the pond. This can be done at any sink or tub in your home.
6. The elf on the shelf sunbathing
This idea is probably best done in a room where the light is on. Use a small mat the elf can lie on and something to cover his eyes to make him look like he’s sunbathing. You can also add bottles of sunscreen around the elf, making him look like he’s ready for the sun!
7. Elf on the banana shelf
This one only requires a marker and a banana. Why not scribble the words “Merry Christmas” on the skin of a banana and position your elf next to that fruit. It’s cheeky and fun Elf on the shelf idea and a creative way to invite your kids to eat fruit!
