Kitchen storage and countertops are often scarce. Nobody, that is. So if your kitchen is limited to, say, a few cupboards in the corner of a room, the stress of figuring out how to make everything work is going to be excruciating. So to help you make the most of the space you have, we’ve rounded up the three best ideas of all time.
These ideas, which include creative cabinet solutions and sneaky little tricks, can help you make your kitchen look like it’s doubled in size.
1. Hang hooks on everything!
Hooks have a firm hold on us! They could turn your apron collection or all your cutting boards into a focal point! You will also have extra space.
2. Store things in the open.
What, no pantry? Carefree! Show off your most used items by placing them on a cute dessert stand or lazy Susan. This will free up cabinet space while making it easier to find what you need while you work. Consider leaving your dutch oven or your best cookware on the stove while you’re at it.
3. Use small corners wisely.
Keep jars and plants on display in an antique wooden crate in the corner of the kitchen. What’s the point? Even the smallest of areas can be converted into storage space.
4. Use window sills as storage space.
Consider how you can use the windowsill as storage if you are lucky enough to have one in your kitchen. Perhaps you could decorate it with plants? If not, what are your favorite cookbooks?
5. Hang a pegboard.
Your walls can store a lot more than you think. (Think pots, pans, and even canisters containing utensils.) Instead of installing a few tighter shelves, try a pegboard, which offers incredibly flexible storage space that can be changed to suit your needs.
