A BOWNESS bar has announced its upcoming winter menu.
The bar recently underwent an expansion led by Hargreaves Enterprises Ltd with a self-funded investment of £1.5m to create a new modern terrace at the front of the venue overlooking the water. He also updated interior spaces created from a renovation of the existing home.
Winter specialties include the Flat Grilled Winter Melt – melted brie, topped with cranberries between thick slices of toasted sourdough, or on Sundays there’s the Yorkshire Pudding Wrap, where diners can choose between roast beef or chicken, served with roasted potatoes, root vegetables and a classic rich onion sauce.
The bar offers the full Cumbrian breakfast and is also available as a vegetarian option.
They also offer their Naughty ‘n’ Nice Sharer which includes waffles, pancakes, hash browns, bacon, maple syrup, fruit, and white and dark chocolate chips. There is also a range of children’s breakfasts on the menu.
From noon, a wide choice of dishes is offered, including a range of sourdough pizzas from Signor Gennaro. Try delicious slices, like Pizza Carbonara, Pulled Pork Pizza or Quattaro Fromaggi Pizza – a classic Italian blend of Parmesan, Cheddar, Stilton Bleu and Mozzarella, topped with arugula leaves.
For traditional options there are the classic pies and bowls such as Beef and Beer Stew, Mac ‘N’ Cheese, Monster Chilli Bowl, Shepherd’s Pie or Chicken Korma.
There’s also Bangers & Mash, with a trio of locally grown pork and apple sausages, Lakeside Fish & Chips, Breaded Scampi or a selection of steaks to choose from.
The menu also includes a selection of tasty burgers, like the Big Lakes Mac – a hand-pressed ground beef and melted ripe cheddar for the ultimate in enjoyment. Others include the Smoky Blue Burger, Cajun Spiced Burger, and Unbelievable Burger – a plant-based patty with a vegan brioche-style bun, vegan cheddar, vegan mayonnaise and pickles. All burgers come with naked fries with skin on, caramelized onions and pickles. The lakeside loaded fries are also a very popular choice with locals.
For guests visiting as a group, Mate and Date Sharers such as Veg Barrow or Meat Bomb are a great option.
The Veg Barrow includes two burgers, buffalo mozzarella sticks, loaded nachos, mac and cheese, slices of garlic bread, loaded truffle fries and giant breaded onion rings.
While the Meat Bomb includes two tiki burgers, pulled pork nachos, Buffalo chicken tenderloins, beer battered fish, truffle fries, garlic pizza slices and jumbo onion rings . Both sharers are served with a range of dips.
For dessert, try the Warmed Toffee Caramel Pudding, served in a hot fudge sauce with a scoop of ice cream, Grandma’s Jam Sponge, served with thick custard and mixed gummy bears, Spotted Dick, or a selection of local ice cream.
For the youngest, a children’s menu is also offered, served every day from noon. Kids can choose from Mac ‘N’ Cheese, Fish Sticks, Chicken Tenders, Eight-Inch Pizza Margherita, Sausage and Mash, or Tomato and Cheese Pasta.
The bar offers a varied drinks menu with lager, real local ales (all beers are available in tankards and pints), wines, bubbles and sparklings, specialty gins and signature cocktails.
The Lake View Garden Bar accepts reservations during the week, then walk-ins only on Friday evenings and all day Saturday and Sunday.
They open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, although times may vary throughout the year and week.
