We also visited a McDonald’s outlet in Marine Cove, Singapore. Located in a public park and on a beach, it is one of the largest in the city-state.

Ordering was very simple. At most McDonald’s in the UK, in-store ordering is done via a large touchscreen kiosk. Except for the staples, McDonald’s menus in the UK and Singapore were quite different. We bought a few to compare who pays more and in which country the items are good value.

In Singapore, orders are picked up at the main counter, where the cashiers are located. Much of the space in this Singapore McDonald’s outlet is dedicated to a McCafe that serves everything from coffees to pastries.

There is some difference in the items of the two food menus. There are currently no meatless options on the menu in Singapore, unlike the UK, which introduced the McPlant in 2021. The burger contains vegan cheese and gravy, while the plant-based patty is cooked separately from other McDonald’s burgers, according to McDonald’s. A large McPlant meal with chips costs £4.35, or $5.15.

Singapore’s McSpicy is one of the most iconic dishes on the local menu. The burger consists of a spicy chicken leg, lettuce and mayonnaise. A single meal of patty with a medium-sized drink and medium-sized fries costs SG$8.60, or $6.15. A double galette version is also available, with one meal costing SG$1.20, or $0.85 more.
