TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – If you’re looking for great food, you don’t have to look much further than Soldier, Kansas. From homemade cake and pies to fried chicken steak and all the drinks you could want, soldier grill got you covered. And we can’t forget the Grill’s signature service.
“Oh the great burgers, all the great food,” Soldier Grill regular Almetta Bottom assured us.
“I would probably say the burgers,” owner Rosemary Junod said. “We have lunch specials every day. Wednesday is fried chicken, Monday and Tuesday is what I want to fix, and Thursday. Friday is chicken fried steak.
At a time when more and more restaurants are using processed foods, everything in Rosie’s kitchen is made from scratch. “Because people like it the other way around,” she said. “I am doing my best.”
“Everybody’s bragging about meals, burgers, fries and whatever,” Bottom pointed out. All.”
“We have the best pies, the best burgers,” said Rhonda Junod, Rosemary’s daughter and the other face of Soldier Grill. “We are known for the best burgers. They love it and they keep coming back.
Bottom noted the same: “Farmers are really loyal.
However, homemade desserts and tried-and-true burgers aren’t the only items on the menu.
“I feel like if it wasn’t here,” Rosemary began, “there would be nothing. I mean, we have a post office, but it’s only there until noon.
“When it’s closed, it’s like a ghost town,” Bottom said. “There are no cars on Main St.”
Rosemary says Soldier Grill acts as a sort of community center, especially for a small town that doesn’t have one.
“That’s what people want,” Rosemary said. “It may happen that you come in here and there is no one there. But if we had to go home early, they would show up.
“It’s very different from what it was years ago,” Bottom recalled. “It’s really not a bar, it’s more like Soldier Grill.”
You can find Soldier Grill at 201 1st St. in Soldier, Kansas. It stays open until 8 p.m., with Rosemary welcoming crowds from 5:30 a.m.
