YOU scream, I scream, all the children in East Lothian will be screaming for ice cream next week when Simpsons Tranent gives away 500 free desserts to celebrate one year in business.
The Simpsons Tranent Van was purchased from the original Simpsons Ice Cream Van Company in June 2021 by Natalie Scanlon.
Natalie, 25, operates and runs the ice cream van as a family business with her parents Claire and Peter Scanlon.
She told the Courier: ‘Our favorite memory of the ice cream van is when we attended the Cockenzie Elementary School Seven Disco and the kids were so shocked and surprised by us coming that they came running straight to the van.
“It was the sheer joy on their faces that made our day.”
Natalie lives in Tranent with her parents and younger brother.
Next Monday (July 25), The Simpsons Ice Cream Van will be giving away 500 free cones and tubs to children outside Ross High School between 6 and 8 p.m.
Each child will receive a scoop with sauce and sprinkles included.
The paid event is limited to one ice cream per child and a maximum of five children per family.
Simpsons Tranent visits Tranent, Port Seton, Macmerry, Ormiston, Elphinstone and New Winton each week and offers ice cream, sweets and cold drinks.
