Ina Garten’s Favorite Holiday Menu

Garten’s Favorite Holiday Menu comes from his cookbook Get ahead. Which means all of these recipes can be put together ahead of time. The menu includes slow roasted spicy pork, winter coleslaw, and sour cream cornbread.

For the main course, you will need to have a conversation with your butcher. The recipe calls for a seven to nine pound bone-in pork butt with a layer of fat on top. You will also need garlic cloves, yellow onion, jalapeño pepper, fresh oregano leaves, ground cumin, chipotle chili powder, kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, apple cider vinegar. of apple, good olive oil, dry white wine and lime wedges.

“Home for the Holidays” offers a “perfect” main course

The Garten menu called “Holiday Home” includes a Sunday rib roast with mustard and horseradish sauce. As an accompaniment, Green Beans with Hazelnuts and Dill and Celery Root Mashed Potatoes. For dessert, Garten recommends the pumpkin roulade with ginger buttercream.

From her Family style cookbook comes the Potato Basil Frittata, and all you’ll need is a handful of ingredients. The recipe calls for unsalted butter, boiling potatoes, extra large eggs, ricotta cheese, Gruyère cheese, kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, fresh basil leaves, all-purpose flour and baking powder.

Garten’s Sour Cream Coffee Cake is definitely a keeper and has become a Christmas morning staple in many households. Finally, the Barefoot Contessa gives her hot chocolate a boost with her peppermint hot chocolate recipe that includes candy canes or peppermint sticks.

For the big show – aka Christmas dinner – Garten goes all out. Its menu begins with champagne and roasted Marcona almonds with thyme as an aperitif.

Once again, she includes her Sunday rib roast with mustard and horseradish sauce as a main course. But this time the sides are scalloped tomatoes, a potato and fennel gratin, and sausage-stuffed mushrooms. For dessert, Garten serves a delicious raspberry cheesecake.

Making the aperitif is super easy. It only takes 20 minutes and all you need are salted Marcona almonds, good olive oil, chopped fresh thyme leaves, kosher salt and fleur de sel.

The sausage stuffed mushrooms are from Garten’s cookbook Is it easy?. And you can even make them ahead of time to free up your kitchen on Christmas Day. His raspberry cheesecake is made from scratch. With a delicious graham cracker crust, a cheese filling and a filling loaded with jelly and fresh raspberries.
