Ina Garten’s Halloween menu is here. The long time Barefoot Countess the host has recipes for every occasion – just look at their Memorial Day menu or their Father’s Day menu – and Oct 31 is no exception. Celebrity chef Barefoot Contessa’s Halloween menu showcases the flavors of fall. And, of course, there’s Halloween candy too.
It wouldn’t be a Barefoot Contessa dinner without cocktails. According to Food web, the Halloween episode of Garten’s cooking show titled “Halloween for Adults” begins with Espresso Martinis. With an average of five stars at the time of posting, the Barefoot Contessa cocktail recipe only takes five minutes to prepare. As Garten says, is it easy?
The Modern comfort food The author of the cookbook combines the ingredients – coffee liqueur, orange vodka, espresso – in a shaker with ice. After shaking it well, she pours the liquid into martini glasses and decorates each with an orange zest. Not only does orange give a hint of what’s in the drink, it also adds a little festive color.
Garten admits there’s a time and place for store-bought ingredients, but when it comes to applesauce, she wants to make it from scratch. Barefoot Contessa’s homemade applesauce recipe serves as a side dish to their Halloween menu. A five-star dish on the Food Network website, the cooking show’s longtime host combines fall spices, citrus fruits and apples to make homemade stuff.
While the applesauce is cooking – it takes over 90 minutes to make – it’s a great time to start on the other side of Garten. She serves green beans with garlic, and unlike applesauce, they’re ready in minutes. After about 17 minutes, the vegetable side is cooked. Cooking instructions? Blanch and drain the beans before allowing them to cool. Brown the garlic in a pan over the heat and add the beans. Season them with salt and pepper and they’re ready to eat. Another top-rated Barefoot Contessa recipe, Garten’s Garlic Green Beans averaged five stars on the Food Network website.
Garten’s main course is pork loin with fennel and garlic
Finally, the main event. The star of Barefoot Contessa’s Halloween menu is none other than Garten’s Pork Loin with Fennel and Garlic. Like all of the previously mentioned recipes, this is also a five star recipe. Rated as “easy” by Food Network, the cookbook author’s pork recipe takes just 10 minutes to prepare. This is after he has been sitting at room temperature for half an hour.
Cookbook author serves chocolate cake decorated with Halloween candy for dessert
Finally, dessert. Garten is famous for her chocolate cake (her recipe for Beatty’s Chocolate Cake is one of her top-rated dishes), but this time, she’s sticking to one of her lesser-known versions. The Barefoot Contessa selected a chocolate buttercream cake for her Halloween menu. Filled with sour cream and buttermilk, Garten topped the cake with orange buttercream. For a festive touch, she spelled out “Boo!” in candy corn.
