Chef Sharyce Graham of My Local Chefs will talk about the important steps in creating a business plan, the importance of social media and technology, and the benefits of the Keto diet. She will share keto-friendly dessert recipes and have samples. Registration is required for this free event at 6.30 p.m. on Monday 20 December at the Manchester Public Library. Westfield Bank collects toys
Westfield Bank is collecting toy donations until December 13 to help economically disadvantaged children this holiday season. Toys collected in Massachusetts will go to the Western Massachusetts Campaign of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation; Connecticut branches will donate to local charities. Toys must be unused, unpacked and in their original packaging. Toys that look like realistic weapons and toys containing food will not be accepted.
Donate to Big Y Food Banks
Big Y’s annual Sack Hunger drive runs through December 15. The campaign provides funds to four food banks in the chain’s marketing area in both states. Customers can donate $ 5 at any of Big Y’s stores or donate online at https://www.bigy.com/rs/GiftCards. Big Y will match the donations. Each $ 5 donation brings 10 meals to those in need.
Springfield Technical Community College will host a Return to Career and Business Transfer Fair on December 8. Participants will be able to meet employers with vacancies and representatives from four-year colleges and universities who can discuss transfer opportunities. Employers can contact the STCC to participate. The event will begin with a breakfast with keynote speaker Jason Young, author of “The Culturetopia Effect”. Cox Business honored the Broad Brook Fire and Ambulance Service of Manchester as part of the company’s efforts to recognize first responders. Organizations were nominated by members of the community. Each received a Thanksgiving lunch and / or boxed meals and a $ 500 donation on behalf of the resort to the nonprofit of their choice. The campaign, organized by Cox Business, aimed to highlight the efforts of first responders who keep residents safe and have taken on new responsibilities over the past year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
