Mom Encourages Daughter To Eat Well By Creating Colorful Halloween Recipes Using Five Ingredients


A MOM who encouraged her daughter to eat well by creating colorful dishes took her fabulous food to the next level – with Halloween recipes using just five ingredients.

Natalie Hughes, 42, mother of three-year-old Giovanna, shares her recipes with her 35,000 followers on the popular Instagram page @my_foodie_baby, but has created these dishes exclusively for Fab Daily readers.

Natalie, COO, lives with Giovanna and her partner Carlos Tozzi, 45, CFO, in Wimbledon, southwest London.

She says: “When Giovanna started weaning, I wanted her to explore the joys of eating and discover new flavors, so I started creating little dishes for her.

“These Halloween recipes are easy to prepare, tasty, and will appeal to children’s imaginations.”

Eyeball pasta (4 people)

Preperation: 5 minutes

To cook: 11 minutes

YOU NEED:

  • 200g of pasta
  • 350g jar of tomato sauce
  • 20 mini mozzarella balls, drained
  • 20 slices of black olives

METHOD: Boil the pasta and heat through the tomato sauce.

Meanwhile, assemble the eyeballs by adding an olive slice on top of each mozzarella ball.

Drain the pasta and divide it into serving bowls.

Pour over a little tomato sauce, then arrange the cheese and olive eyeballs on top.

Preperation: 5 minutes

To cook: 11 minutes

YOU NEED:

  • 12 chipolatas
  • ½ sheet of ready-made puff pastry
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato ketchup
  • Milk (for washing the pastry)
  • Edible eyes for decoration (or use mustard)
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon of honey

METHOD: Preheat the oven to 180C / 160C hot air / gas 4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Combine ketchup and honey in a small bowl.

Separate your sausages.

Unroll the puff pastry and use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to slice 12 strips about ½ cm wide.

Take a sausage and coat it with the ketchup / honey mixture.

Wrap a strip of dough around the sausage to create the “mummy bandage” effect.

Place it on the baking sheet and repeat until all the sausages are wrapped.

Brush the dough lightly with a drop of milk then bake for 20 minutes until the sausages are cooked and the dough is golden.

Let cool slightly then add the edible eyes.

They are quite delicate, so use a drop of honey to make them stick.

If you don’t have edible eyes, use a drop of mustard or sliced ​​olives for the eyes.

To cook: 20 minutes

YOU NEED:

  • 4 beef burgers
  • 4 slices of cheese
  • 4 burger buns with seeds
  • 4 slices of pickled cucumber
  • 8 olives stuffed with peppers
  • Optional: lettuce, mayo, ketchup

METHOD: Cook the burgers and cut the buns in half.

Meanwhile, create the teeth of the monster by cutting a zigzag on one side of the cheese slice.

Create the monster eyes by gluing the olives on cocktail sticks.

Once the burgers are cooked, assemble the monster.

Place the burger on the base of the bread, then the cucumber slice “tongue”, the cheese “teeth” and the top of the bread.

Finally, place the eyes at the top of the bun.

To cook: 15-20 minutes

YOU NEED:

  • 2 x ready-to-use puff pastry
  • 6 tablespoons of jam
  • 1 beaten egg
  • Edible googly eyes for decoration

METHOD: Preheat the oven to 180C / 160C hot air / gas 4.

Lightly sprinkle a plank with flour then place a sheet of dough on it.

Cut into thin strips and set aside.

Cut the other sheet of brick into 6 equal rectangles and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Place 1 tablespoon of jam in the center of each rectangle then brush the edges with the beaten egg.

Spread a few strips of cut dough over the jam and crimp the edges with a fork.

Brush with egg.

Place in the oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until the pastry is golden and puffed.

Cool to room temperature, decorate with edible googly eyes and serve.

Coldness: 2 hours

YOU NEED:

  • 75g of Rice Krispies
  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 50g golden syrup
  • 24 mint sticks and Smarties each

METHOD: Line a cupcake pan with paper boxes.

Melt chocolate with butter and golden syrup over low heat until blended.

Carefully fold in the Rice Krispies, then divide the mixture between the paper trays, shaping each into a ball.

Break each mint stick into quarters and glue them into the chocolate Krispie ball to create the eight legs of the spider.

Add edible eyes or Smarties for spider eyes.

Chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours.

Once set, remove cases.

Preperation: 10 minutes

YOU NEED:

  • 4 bananas
  • 24 chocolate chips
  • 8 mandarins
  • 1 stalk of celery

METHOD: Peel and cut the banana in half lengthwise.

Arrange it so that it stands up like a ghost and use chocolate chips as eyes and mouth – pressing the shock chip tips into the banana.

Peel the tangerines and cut the celery into 8 small pieces to resemble pumpkin stems.

Poke each “stem” into the top of a tangerine to resemble a pumpkin.
