On the menu: Mazatlan Mexican Grill & Seafood


ST. GEORGE- Mazatlán is not only a beautiful coastal city in Mexico, it is also a brand new Mexican and seafood restaurant in Hurricane. “What’s on the Menu” host Sheldon Demke likes to try new places, so of course he was excited to get a taste.

Demke and this week’s guest Jason Lewis from the team at Canyon Media brought their royal appetite to Mazatlan Mexican Grill & Seafood and were fed like kings.

Not knowing where to start with Mazatlán’s extensive menu would be an understatement. Demke and Lewis indulged in the Vallarta molcajete, a tantalizing combination of shrimp, clams, mussels, scallops, octopus and crab claws in a red salsa topped with grilled zucchini, onions and mushrooms and served in a traditional stone bowl with a side of white rice.

“The ceviche was nothing I’ve ever tried before, authentic and delicious,” Demke said. “They showered us with so many amazing dishes.”

There’s just something about having a sizzling plate of delicious food brought to your table, like the combination of chicken and steak fajitas. It’s party ! Demke and Lewis were also treated to guacamole, prepared fresh at the table.

Then they tried the carne asada platter and the shredded beef chimichanga, which comes smothered in a marinara-like red sauce. Lewis was all over it.

“The marinara added a kind of sweetness that really accentuated the shredded beef in a way that I didn’t expect,” he added. “I’ve never had a chimichanga presented this way.”
