Cleveland-based Pierre’s Ice Cream Co. will be acquired by Ohio Processors Inc. in a recently finalized deal. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed in a press release and messages to the company were not immediately returned.
Pierre’s manufactures and distributes frozen desserts such as ice cream, while Ohio Processors manufactures and distributes dairy products. Ohio Processors is a fourth generation family business in London, Ohio near Columbus. The acquisition will expand “Ohio Processors’ product line, customer base and geographic reach,” the statement said.
The company will continue to manufacture and distribute products from Pierre’s location at East 65th Street and Euclid Avenue in Cleveland, the statement said, and the new owners expect to retain Pierre’s employees.
In the statement, Pierre President Shelley Roth said the “philosophies” of Ohio Processors and owners, the Smith family, align with Pierre’s estate goals and overall values.
“The Smith family shares the same core values that were instilled in Pierre’s organization. They understand food manufacturing and distribution and will be able to build on the foundations already created,” Roth said in the statement. “They recognize the importance of supporting team members, creating high quality products and providing excellent customer service.”
