PINEVILLE, PA – Pineville Tavern, a restaurant popular with locals since 1742, will be offering an exciting new winter menu starting Thursday, under the direction of its new chef. Soon the Favorite Place will also have a beautiful new greenhouse for guest enjoyment.
New Chef Matthew Levin joins Pineville Tavern after a celebrated career over the past two decades, with stints as Executive Chef of Lacroix at the Rittenhouse Hotel and as Culinary Director of Brûlée Catering. He said that in the new concert he was inspired to elevate the menu while honoring the classics that have supported the tavern for the past 280 years.
“I cook the food that I love to eat,” he said. “For years, I have cooked the food that people have expected of me. I am delighted to launch this new menu and to share what I love with our guests.”
Owner Andrew Abruzzese is enthusiastic about Levin’s tradition: for example, seared salmon served with dates, cucumber, cashews and seared scallops will now be accompanied by butternut squash, fried broccoli and butter blanc à la vanilla.
“You’ll always find our classics, but we’re giving a new twist to some of the Pineville Tavern favorites,” Abruzzese said.
Levin has also added several vegetarian options due to high demand for lighter fare.
“The pantry is filled with things we’ve never seen before – ingredients, seasonings and herbs from all over the world,” Abruzzese said. “New menu items such as Kung Pao Spicy Cauliflower Tacos are completely different from anything ever offered here. We’ve always had homemade ravioli, but now we’ve added Cacio e Pepe and added new ones. versions of Clams Casino and Lobster Mac ‘N Cheese – which might sound a bit cliché, but when Matt works his magic it makes these classics so incredibly delicious. “
Other new menu items include:
- Bacon Wrapped Shrimp – Million Dollar Bacon, Mustard Cream Sauce ($ 18)
- General Tso’s salad – fried chicken, avocado, honey sesame vinaigrette ($ 22)
- Nashville Hot Chicken – fried chicken breast, BBQ pickles, butter lettuce ($ 18)
- Steak Frites – hanger steak, shoe string fries ($ 33)
- Pork chop on the bone – rye spaeztle, red cabbage, pear and bacon jam, cider sauce ($ 32)
The daily rotating desserts will be on the Pineville “Specials” chalkboard, but these staples will be available every day:
- Homemade rice pudding ($ 8)
- Tiramisu ($ 8)
- Matt’s famous Crème Brûlée ($ 10)
In addition, a permanent 2,250 square foot garden greenhouse that can accommodate 70 people or can accommodate 100 for a standing cocktail is being completed, so guests can enjoy temperature-controlled alfresco dining throughout. year.
The greenhouse was designed by local gardener Renny Reynolds of Hortulus Farm Garden & Nursery. Abruzzese expects the enclosure to be completed in February.
