Spotlight on the Week: Using Peaches to Create Late Summer Recipes!

Summer is ending and that means it’s the last call for summer products! Peach season is here and it’s the perfect time to enjoy this delicious stone fruit. The best part about using peaches is that you can use them in both sweet and savory recipes.

If you’re looking to remove the skin from peaches, the best way is to blanch them. Put a pot on boil and add your peaches. Let them sit in the hot water for about 10-15 seconds, then take them out. Let them rest for a second and then carefully cut the skin. Putting them in hot water helps loosen the skin and make it easier to remove. When you’re done, your peaches are ready to be worked on.

Peaches in savory dishes may seem odd, but their sweetness helps cut the savory flavors. You can even make a quick coleslaw and add diced peaches for a sweeter flavor and use it on tacos! If you’re not looking to experiment a lot, there are plenty of dessert and juice recipes to make with peaches. Peaches taste wonderful baked in pies or even crumble bars and cobblers!
