Over the past few years, Sorrentina All Day Dining in Mumbai has experimented with delicious Italian cuisine and a classy ambience. As the monsoon sets in, the gourmet restaurant has prepared a delicious truffle menu, serving up some of Italy’s most beloved dishes. Curated by Chef Aabhas Mehrotra, the special menu offers some of the most famous gourmet dishes in starters, two main course options and traditional Italian desserts. We headed to the sumptuous restaurant to sample the menu named Magnificanza Del Tartufo.
To start, we sipped Bacca Limonata – a mix of berries, lemon and soda. First we tried the truffled asparagus bruschetta – crispy asparagus with lemon oil, olive streusel and truffle honey from Italy. This turned out to be our favorite of the platter, thanks to the sweetness with a subtle but detectable hint of olive oil. You can also choose from Truffle Scramble which has sourdough toast, scrambled eggs and baby arugula, Truffled Sando with country bread, provolone, gruyere, toma de bombai and truffle, and Dolce Truffled Oliv Burrata with tapenade stuffing, focaccia croutons, truffled shimeji and truffle oil.
Among other entrees we loved the charred corn and truffle soup made with truffle butter and crispy crouton was a meal for the soul especially with the non-stop pouring rain. The star of the meal, however, was the Pizza Al Tartufo – buffalo mozzarella, Portobello mushrooms, hazelnut gremolata and black truffle. There is also an elaborate pasta menu including Tajarin Tartufo with hand-cut pasta, a parmesan butter and fresh truffle sauce, Maize alla Tartufo which comes with corn and truffle tortellini and corn toppings with cheddar. On the pasta menu, the restaurant also offers Gnocchi all Tartufo and Crab n Truffle Cacio e peppe. We, however, skipped the pasta platter and opted to sample a mains dish.
From the main course, we opted for the prawn and truffle risotto – Carnaroli rice, prawn broth, parmesan and truffle. However, the chef obliged us with a vegetarian version of the same dish by replacing the prawns with mushrooms and the prawn broth with vegetable broth, thanks to Leon, a restaurant staff member who suggested some of the best dishes to taste on the menu.
We chose to end our meal with the traditional delicacy from the land of marbles, the panacotta with truffle honey topped with homemade granola crumble and olive oil. The cooked cream and blackberry jam made us go for a second but we suppressed our cravings to avoid more calories.
Located in Santacruz, atop a gourmet dining room, the elegant Italian-style restaurant is adorned with wood-framed chandeliers, marble tables and bougainvillea flowers on the ceiling mingling with soothing lights and moody accents. coffee aromas in the background.
