Arguably the star of any French meal, this twist on the Parisian classic is a buttery croissant filled with Dungeness crab and baby prawn salad with crème fraiche, citrus zest and chives to tie it all together.

Paired with one of the different Sloane Fine Tea Merchants teas offered at this lunch such as Heavenly Cream, Grand Gen Mai Cha, Peaches and Cream, Oolong Crème and Marrakech Mint – you can already be sure this is an outing your mum(s) will thank you for years to come.

What could be more delicious on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon than a small fluffy French pancake enhanced by the presence of a smoked salmon mousse, fried capers, fresh dill cream and marinated cocktail onions? And in the middle of the bites, you can even choose to learn a new party trick. A live origami artist will attend the event from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. both days, making paper flowers for guests to take home on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tartlets

Most of us can agree that anything made mini gets cuter. This is definitely the case for this tartelette, which is a small French tart made with mashed spring peas, lemon zest, mint, basil and tomato chutney, topped with Grana Padano. How many different ways are there to say “yum?”

“One of our favorite parts of Afternoon Tea is how playful we can be when creating each unique item,” Sibayan told Daily Hive. “We like to be whimsical and contemporary with menus so our customers can have the most exciting experience possible with us.”

French macaron

The first of the sweet caps is the most exquisite of all cookies, the French macaron. This macaron has a honey crust and a lavender filling – and is sure to transport you to a lush springtime garden in the French countryside (if only).

“A macaroon has so much potential and we love finding the perfect flavor combination for our menus. This comes with hours spent testing (and tasting) new flavor combinations from local bakeries and ensuring they are perfect for our customers,” says Steven Smith, Director of National Operations at Holts Café. “Honey and lavender are such a sublime combination that we hope you’ll love.”

Petite Perfect

If you’re not drooling already, buckle up. This vanilla and caramel sponge cake is topped with a London fog mousse and a crispy feuilletine – a confection made from thin, sweet pancakes that are crumbled into flakes. All in all, this is sure to be a textured dessert that you and your mom(s) can’t get enough of.

Magdalene

These traditional French pastries are most often two small sponge cakes stuck together in the shape of a shell. The one featured at Holts Café will feature brown butter and lemon mousse, a flavor combination known to wow crowds in a variety of ways.

Choux pastry

For all the cream puff and coconut lovers out there, this one’s for you. This ball of French choux pastry is filled with white chocolate and coconut cream and dusted with icing sugar – like a little cloud of pastry.

“We’ve been working for months to create the perfect menu for the most important people we know, moms,” says Holts Café General Manager Jason Harris. “This menu will only be available two days a year, and it features so many special items that we’re sure they’ll impress.”

Holts Café’s Mother’s Day tasting menu is $55 per person and will also include many more indulgent dishes, such as red velvet scones and cucumber brioche sandwiches. Brunch will also be offered on weekends in an à la carte style, featuring items from the Café’s new spring menu.

Reservations are required for the Afternoon Tea experience and can be booked through Open Table here by making a reservation for May 7 or 8. When booking in Open Table, be sure to put “Afternoon Tea” in the restaurant notes. To learn more about Holts Café, follow them on instagram.
