Whether you’re going as a couple, with friends, or even with your parents, I highly recommend sampling a Beefeater restaurant to try their Valentine’s Day menu.
I went to the Boathouse Beefeater chain on Castle Marina and left satisfied and full.
I went for the 3 course meal – because I was hungry – and it costs 22.95 but if you’re not feeling so hungry there’s a two course meal for 19.95.
When I arrived I was warmly welcomed and noticed the pink balloons at the entrance.
My order was taken promptly and I sat down with my mum as I had a soft drink in the fairly quiet restaurant with music playing at low volume.
For my entree, I had the cheese stuffed mushrooms and I have to say that not only did it look fancy, it was amazing. If you’re a cheese and mushroom lover this starter is for you – if you’re not a fan of arugula but don’t worry I’m sure you can ask a member of staff to tell the chief to remove it.
For my main course I had steak (medium rare) and chips and it was great – my only criticism was that the tomato that came with it was over seasoned with pepper – it was really spicy.
The accompanying fries were well done as there is nothing worse than undercooked fries and I always feel uncomfortable complaining to a waiter or telling them something is wrong with my meal.
But overall my steak was delicious. No complaints from me. Juicy, luscious and not too chewy.
And then for dessert, I got stuck. It was between the chocolate brownie or the fondue – which the waitress said was new, so I went for it.
And again, nothing to complain about.
When you only criticize a menu, it’s a well seasoned tomato that was spicy, you know it’s worth it.
If you don’t fancy anything on the Valentine’s menu, of course, the regular menu is still available. My mum had a fish sandwich with fries off the regular menu and said, “I enjoyed my meal and would go back though, the fries were too salty for my taste but the dessert was right up my alley. The waitress who served us was adorable and there was a good atmosphere in the restaurant.”
It’s safe to say that I will definitely return to Beefeater.
