Although the Yakima Valley has become better known as a PNW beer and wine destination lately, it’s not exactly known as a foodie’s paradise. However, in recent years there have been a few new additions to the restaurant scene that make us reconsider. In fact, it only takes one meal at WaterFire to realize that Yakima’s food scene is pretty awesome.
WaterFire is the kind of place where it’s impossible to decide what to eat…and that’s not a bad thing. Bring a very hungry group or date with you, because you’ll want to try everything on the menu.
This place is the definition of a neighborhood gem. Although not the first property to occupy this coveted space, it is a long-lasting property.

If the huge wall of wines from around the world (many from Washington, of course) doesn’t give you a clue, the scents wafting from the kitchen will.

Chef Derrin Davis, Executive Chef and General Manager, grew up in Yakima and studied at Johnson & Wales Culinary Arts in Providence Rhode Island.


The dinner menu changes seasonally, but there are always plenty of international options. The Ahi Tuna Tower is a huge hit.

Dungeness crab-stuffed squash blossoms, heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and blistered cherry tomatoes on a roasted garlic tomato coulis with garlic crostini, balsamic glaze and mustard aioli were a huge hit last summer. The fresh seafood here is out of this world.

They are open for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Sunday.
