Many Wendy’s fans remember the first time they picked up a cold Frosty with a fry as a utensil. But if that routine has become stale and you wish you could travel back in time to that first salty-sweet bite, you can stop rubbing lamps at rummage sales in hopes of finding a genie. There’s a new Frosty on the menu at Wendy’s.
On June 6, Wendy’s launched a Strawberry Frosty. The fast-food chain says a strawberry version of the beloved dessert has been its most fan-requested flavor. The summer refresh includes more of a strawberry-focused menu arrival. However, entering the Strawberry Frosty comes at a cost.
John Li, vice president of culinary innovation, said Frosty machines at Wendy’s locations are configured to handle only two well-known flavors, vanilla and chocolate. To bring the Strawberry Frosty into the fold, something has to be done. Thus, the Vanilla Frosty is temporarily discontinued, the company said at an event on Monday. This choice was made in part because Vanilla Frosty forms the basis of the new Strawberry Frosty.
Monday’s other big announcement was the return of Summer Strawberry Chicken Salad. The popular summer salad includes strawberries, bacon, grilled chicken and a mix of lettuce and spring with a mix of Italian cheeses, candied almonds and a champagne vinaigrette.
If you’re a fan of strawberries, you’ll surprisingly be able to get your fill from a drive-thru fast food window this summer.
