Business News | Leading baklava brand Mezaya eyes three crore annual sales by March 2023

Maharashtra [India], Mar 19 (ANI/PNN): Leading Baklava brand Mezaya, which currently sells Rs 10 lakhs per month, is targeting a sale of Rs 25 lakhs per month in the coming financial year, Mezaya co-founder Confectionery LLP, said Raies Sheikh. We are all set to increase our annual revenue to Rs 3 crore by March 31, 2023, Raies pointed out. Currently, we deliver 50 to 70 boxes per day; we aim to increase these deliveries to around 150 boxes and more, he added.

To achieve this goal, the company has increased its capacity and invested in a state-of-the-art kitchen so that production can match supply and demand, he said. The company also plans to expand its product range so that our customers can also enjoy other Middle Eastern delicacies, he said. At the moment we are working on the menu.

Mezaya, which took the Mumbai market by storm with its incredible and sumptuous range of baklava three years ago, has also started delivering its entire range to major Tier I cities across the country. The company has partnered with premier courier company Blue Dart so fresh baklava can be delivered within 48 hours. For this, the company has developed special packaging to ensure that the freshness of the product remains intact, the statement adds.

The best products are used in their manufacture and come from their country of origin. For example, the company buys pistachios from Iran. Likewise, the best Belgian chocolates are also imported. Besides the ingredients, the other USP of these handcrafted baklavas are specially developed in-house syrups, which not only enhance the taste, but also take the experience of drinking them to the next level. Another distinguishing factor is that no synthetics or chemicals are used to make them, and the entire line is natural, organic and 1oo% vegetarian.

It all started as a small business four years ago in a tiny 100 square foot room in a rundown little place in the suburbs of Mumbai. It has grown into a fully-fledged business enterprise, with a turnover touching almost 1.2 crores in the current financial year. Today, Baklava by Mezaya has become the go-to name for indulging in these sinful Mediterranean delights.

Created by a young couple of entrepreneurs, Shazia and Raies Sheikh, in their twenties, the company has multiplied and today delivers nearly 2,000 orders per month. Said Raies, “In the first month, we achieved a sale of only ten thousand rupees and today we are easily crossing ten lakh every month.”

Raies, who studied engineering and worked in Dubai for a while, says the idea to venture into Mediterranean desserts came from his wife Shazia. She completed her bakery course at Richemont Master Baker in Dubai. “She used to bake these amazing baklava, and everyone who tasted it wanted more, and that’s how the seeds of Mezaya were planted in our minds,” he said.

Mezaya currently has 12 delivery points and delivers baklava in Mumbai and nearby satellite cities. Customers order directly through Mezaya’s social media pages or other delivery platforms like Zomato and Swiggy.
